Loy Krathong 2026 — Festival of Lights

On the full moon of the 12th lunar month, Thais float krathongs (decorated banana-leaf rafts with candles and incense) on rivers, canals and ponds to give thanks to the water goddess and let go of misfortune. In Bangkok the best spots are along the Chao Phraya (river piers, Asiatique, riverside hotels) and at temples and parks citywide. Expect candle-lit crowds and fireworks on the night of the full moon (Nov 25 in 2026); some areas mark it across Nov 24–25.
